The Benefits of Physical Activity and Mental Health

Physical activity and exercise are good for you.
It is just a matter of making it a priority and a habit in your daily life.
The benefits are plentiful: exercise can help prevent disease (such as heart disease and diabetes), improves immune function, and decrease risk of falls by improving strength and flexibility (which also helps to improve balance and coordination).
Equally importantly, regular physical activity benefits cognitive function and improves mental health. Exercise produces endorphins (the “feel-good” hormone), which act as a stress reliever and leave you feeling happy and satisfied. Also, exercise has been shown to improve sleep, which is particularly important for older adults who often suffer from insomnia and disrupted sleep patterns.
